Maplegate General Contractors was tasked with transforming an unused, dark basement into a fully functional living space for a growing family in Scarborough. The project involved extensive work, starting with framing and insulating the entire space to ensure it was comfortable year-round. We installed drywall throughout, created a separate utility room, and added a full 3-piece bathroom complete with modern fixtures. The family’s wish for a cozy entertainment space was realized with a custom-built media center and plush carpeting.
In addition to these structural changes, we incorporated modern, energy-efficient lighting solutions, including recessed LED lights and motion-sensor switches, which brighten up the space without driving up energy costs. The project also included new vinyl plank flooring for durability and easy maintenance, as well as custom built-in shelving for extra storage. We were mindful of the family’s budget and completed the entire renovation on time and within budget, delivering a beautifully transformed space that now serves as a recreation room and a comfortable guest suite.
